Hiram Bingham letter to Beatrice and Charlie with photographs and photostat maps of Machu Picchu, 1948-1949.

The collection consists of six items: letter to Beatrice and Charlie, 22 Jan. 1949, congratulating them on Beatrice's book, Historic Stars and Comets, with mention of Bingham's book, Lost City of the Incas, and his health; also, three photostats of maps left out of the book by the publisher, including a regional plan of Machu Picchu, a plan of the site, and detail maps of the sacred plaza; also, two small snapshots of the road to Machu Picchu, with typed captions on the verso describing the road opening 17 Oct. 1948.
